Three Como-Pickton CISD fifth-grade students created winning artwork in the annual poster contest by the Hopkins-Rains Soil and Water Conservation District, designed with the theme of 'May the Forest Be With You Always.
The first place winner in this year's poster contest was Bryanna Neal. Trevor Thompson and Courtney Collins's posters were also among the top three. The winning poster will advance to Area competition. Across Texas, SWCDs are actively involved in soil and water conservation activities such as the operation and maintenance of flood control structures, sponsoring pesticide workshops, producer field days, land and range judging contests, scholarships, and securing money for the construction of outdoor classrooms.
