Future looks promising
Softball has been one of the most successful sports at Sulphur Springs High School over the last 15 years. That success has helped keep interest in the sport strong, and that was evident by the fact that over 40 young athletes attended Lady Wildcat Softball Camp from June 14 to 16 at the Multipurpose Building.
During the camp, athletes learned new skills in numerous aspects in the game of softball, including throwing, fielding, catching, running bases, and hitting.
The camp was conducted by head coach David Carrillo and assistant coaches Bailey Dorner and Trent Easley. These coaches were not alone though, as two former Lady Wildcats, Nadia Wright and Noelle Yancy, also lended a hand and helped coach. When introducing Yancy to the athletes, Carrillo stated that Yancy was one of the best athletes he has ever coached.
Other volunteer coaches included Crimson Bryant, a current Lady Wildcat softball player, and also Mattison Buster, a current Como-Pickton softball player.
