Three win gold medals
LINDALE — The Sulphur Springs track and field teams recently took part in the Distrist 15/16 Area track and field meet at Lindale High School. Both teams would do well, with multiple top-six finishes.
WILDCATS
On the boys side, Ty Bybee highlighted the day by earning a gold medal in the pole vault, placing first with a height of 14 feet. Bybee also placed third in the 110-meter hurdles, winning a bronze medal.
Creed Whisenhunt won a silver medal in the 100-meter dash, placing second with a time of 11.20 seconds. Wyatt Watson placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with time of 43.62 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of CT Galloway, Gio Ibarra, Kyshon John, and X’Zavion Johnson placed fourth with a time of 43.52 seconds.
The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Jaxson Haire, Trysten Hankins, Ibarra, and Skyler Lewis placed fifth with a time of 1:31.
The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Haire, Grayson Hardy, Lewis, and Whisenhunt placed fifth with a time of 3:30.
LADY WILDCATS
On the girls side, Jaicee Jasmer earned a gold medal in the pole vault, placing first with a height of 11 feet. Madyson Gilbert also earned a gold medal, placing first in the shot put throw with a distance of 34 feet, 9.5 inches.
Edith Martinez won a bronze medal in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:17. Martinez also took fifth place in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:52.
The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of McKenzie Adams, Aylean Burrell, Rowan Faircloth, and Jasmer placed fifth with a time of 51.13 seconds.
Codee Roland took fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 11.5 inches, and also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03. Kolbie Moughon took sixth place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.97 seconds.
The next meet will be the Regional track and field meet, which will be April 19 and 20 at the University of North Texas.
