Half of earnings will go toward scholarships for local students

The Claws for a Cause Rotary Crawfish Boil had another record-breaking year, Rotary of Sulphur Springs members reported.

“With a huge thank you to our community and our title sponsor, Signature Solar, we are pouring $40,000 into our community and Hopkins County graduates!” said Chaney Johnson, Claws For A Cause chairperson.

On Friday evening, the Rotary Scholarship Allocations Committee selected six recipients, based on merit, to receive half of those earnings.

Rotary scholarship recipients are as follows: Jillian Jumper, Sulphur Springs High School, $5,000; Braxton Andrews, Como-Pickton High School, $3,000; Madelyn Sherman, SSHS, $3,000; Kennedi Lambert, Sulphur Bluff High School, $3,000; Matthew Clarke, SSHS, $3,000; and Rebekah Stanley, SSHS, $3,000.

“Our Rotary Club is so blessed to be in such a giving community! Congratulations to these students!” Johnson noted.
