I started watching the anime television series Dragon Ball Z when I was about five; I loved all the fighting and the designs of the characters. The show originated in Japan in the mid-1980s. As a junior in high school, I can honestly say that it is still my favorite show. Let me tell you a little about the main story.

The whole Dragon Ball Z universe was created by Akiro Toriyama in 1984. It starts with the main character, Goku. His dad sends him to Earth in a pod, where his grandpa Gohan finds him alone in the forest.

When he gets a little older, he goes to hunt for some food, and then he runs into a girl named Bulma, who was searching for the seven dragon balls until she ran over Goku with a motorcycle. They become good friends and start traveling the world together searching for the dragon balls. If they can collect all seven dragon balls, they can make a wish.

After several years have gone by, we find Goku with a family. Then, the Sayian Raddits come to Earth wanting to take Goku’s son. But, with the help of Piccolo and the Z fighters, they defeat Raddits, but with the loss of Goku. Goku in the afterlife sought out King Kai to master the ki-o ken attack.

Meanwhile, Gohan is back on Earth being trained by Piccolo for the arrival of the new enemies. In the meantime, Sayians Vegeta and Nappa show up looking for the dragon balls as Goku finishes his training and is brought back to life.

In the middle of Piccolo and the Z fighters fighting Vegeta and Nappa, Goku makes his big return back to earth to help with the fight. Once the fight is over Goku spares Vegeta’s life, allowing him to leave the planet, continuing on planet Namek.

The main plot attraction is the long awaited battle between Goku and Frieza, with Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo and Vegeta taking on the tyrant, at first with little success. A little bit after the first battle the enemy Frieza ends up killing Krillin, and after the incident with Krillin, Goku unlocks his full potential and ends up defeating Frieza and planet Namek explodes.

Back on planet Earth, Bulma and Vegeta’s son, Trunks, comes from the future to warn Goku about a deadly heart virus that is going to hurt Goku, but Goku is not on Earth at the time. He is on another planet because, after planet Namek explodes, Goku gets brought to another planet, where he learns a new technique called instant transmission. When he comes back, he is stronger than before and is able to unlock his hidden potential with ease.

Then, about six to seven years later, a new threat named Jiren comes forth; he is the strongest foe that Goku has faced yet. During the middle of the battle Goku unlocks a new form called Ultra Instinct, allowing him to be as powerful as the angels, maybe a little bit stronger.

A new series of Dragon Ball Z is coming out next year, and I cannot wait to continue watching!
